Labour Market Impact Assessment
An employer must apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) before they can hire a foreign worker.

A positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) will show that there is a need for the foreign worker to fill the job and that there is no Canadian pr permanent Resident available to fill the job position.
​
LMIA helps to get additional scores for application under Express Entry Program.
Once an employer gets the LMIA, the worker can apply for a work permit.
